Bolton Ings et al - Sunday 2nd March

A big change in the weather this morning compared to yesterday, 6c at 08.00 with drizzle. Fortunately rain stopped but wind increased. Struggling for highlights today, the "resident" Buzzard, 4 Oystercatchers, pair of Goldeneye and Tufted's up to 53. Full list :- Grey Heron 1, Mute Swan 13, Canada Goose 30, Grey Lag Goose 1, Cormorant 1, Great Crested Grebe 4, Little Grebe 8, Mallard 14, Teal 20, Wigeon 5, Gadwall 41, Shoveler 8, Tufted Duck 53, Pochard 12, Goldeneye 2, Coot 139, Moorhen 8, Lapwing 1, Black Headed Gull 343, Common Gull 17, LBB Gull 2, Buzzard 1, Kestrel 1, Green Woodpecker 1, Grey Wagtail 1.

Called in at Edderthorpe mid afternoon, birds seen included Shelduck 5, Oystercatcher 2 and Shoveler a very impressive 70.

Went onto Reedbeds at Old Moor for last couple of hours, weather gradually got worse with heavy rain, Bittern booming but sounded as soggy as the weather.

Other news from Old Moor today included Mediterranean Gull, Oystercatcher 4 and Redshank 2.
