Whooper Swans - Saturday Afternoon

There seems to be some confusion as to the number of Whoopers that flew over various locations on Saturday afternoon. However, there is a superb photo of the flock on the RSPB Old Moor website, you will have to go to the website as I haven't a clue how to put a photo on here even if I had permission. Have a look and count them, I think there is 71.

Counted then on my phone in Cambodia (yes, that was the Dead Kennedys song title I was leading to and NOT the other you suggested!!!) and don't think you're far out Nige. Which way did they fly? I assumed they were the c70 seen over Carlton a short while later? Whoopers were clearly on the move that day however, and Andy Deighton has informed me that 54 left Agden Res at 16.30 and headed over Dukes Road into Barnsley air space.

I think there were two groups over late afternoon Saturday
Dave rang me from old moor and said 57 were coming my way which I got going NW over hoylandswaine and the 70 bird flock about the same time crossed Carlton marsh and over the Bretton area which I did not pick up
