New Bird 4 Castle Dam

A decent mornings birding. Even felt very spring-like in sheltered areas, but still very cold NE winds and snow drifts as high as 8ft under the walls and by the roadside in places. All roads in our area, however, are passable, although sone remain 'one way only'.
Curlews and Lapwing are still drifting in, andodd birds still moving in a westerly direction today. There is a definate increase in the number of Meadow Pipit, with groups of up 8 seen throughout, but there are still no Wheatears (as yet).
Low Common, Ingbirchwirth - 40+ Lapwings, 18 Golden Plovers and 1 Herring Gull.
Ingbirchworth Reservoir - 1 Canada Goose, 28 Mallards, 2 Little Grebes, 2 Moorhens, 17 Coots, 2 Oystercatchers, 2 singing Yellowhammers and 2 singing Reed Buntings.
Gunthwaite Dam - 2 Canada Geese, 8 Mallards, 4 Tufted Decks, 7 Moorhens, two pairs of Coot and 1 Kingfisher.
Gunthwaite Mill - 3 Mallards and 2 Moorhens.
Scout Dike Reservoir - 27 Canada Geese, 8 Mallards, 7 Tufted Ducks, 2 'trilling' Little Grebes, two pairs of Great Crested Grebes, 7 Moorhens, 25 Coots, 1 singing Chiffchaff, 1 White Wagtail and 2 singing Reed Buntings.
Castle Dam - a pair of Canada Geese, 4 Wigeon, 7 Mallards, 1 Water Rail, 4 Moorhens and 7 Coots

Where is Castle Dam Martin?

It is a fishing pond (not fished now) roughly behind Cubley Hall, Penistone (on the road from Penistone to Stocksbridge. If you take the first left after Cubley Hall and left again at the T Junction you will see it on your left. Grid ref SE253022

I've been thinking for weeks now that CD was looking ripe for a Water Rail Martin. Beat me to it! Where abouts was it?

On the far bank working its way left (as you look from the road/car park) - quite showey for a Water Rail.
Had them locally in April before (1in next doors apple tree!!!).
