Pandion Pandemonium!

Another cold sunny morning with a chilling northerly wind. At about 10am a phone call came from Worsbrough to say an Osprey was heading our way and a short while later it was picked up over Wombwell. Although viewable from the 'Mecca recording area' it never actually came into it and after circling over Ardsley Cremertorian way it eventually headed off towards Edderthorpe. Presumably this was the bird seen heading north over Anglers and Pugneys at just after 11am.

Wombwell Ings: Wigeon c130, Teal 35, Shelduck 2, Goosander 2, Redshank 4, Snipe 9, Chiffchaff (singing).

Old Moor: Bittern 'booming', Little Egret 1, Avocet 7, Black-tailed Godwit 1, Med' Gull 2 ads, Barn Owl 1. Also 2 Curlew on Wader Scrape last night.
