The Edge 17th April

Broomhill Flash mid AM- Birds seen were 6 Little Grebe, 3 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Mute Swan, 30 Canada Geese, 1 Greylag, 2 pair Shelduck, 20 Tufted Duck, 7 Mallard, 5 Gadwall, 1 Pochard, 2 Avocet, 2 Oystercatcher, 2 Redshank, 7 Lapwing, c14 flyover Golden Plover, 1 Snipe, 238 BH Gull, 1 LBB Gull, 1 Common Tern, 2 Red Legged Partridge, 1 Kestrel, 1 Sparrowhawk, 12 Swallow, 2 Sand Martin and 1 Willow Warbler.

Bolton Ings late AM/early PM-On the open water were 9+ Little Grebe, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 9 Cormorant, 3 Mute Swan, 19 Canada Geese, 5 Greylag, 92 Gadwall, 43 Tufted Duck, 15 Pochard and 9+ Mallard. Singing males included 10 Chiffchaff, 6 Willow Warbler and 1 Skylark. Also present 2 Common Sandpiper, 4 Oystercatcher, 1 Kestrel, 4 Jay and 1 Yellowhammer.
