Carlton Marsh

As the mild weather continues a Chiffchaff was singing first thing. (Keith Bannister) The site was well watched today, the highlights being a female Pintail, 2 Water Rails, 37 Pink Feet Geese west at 10.45hrs followed by another skein heard in the distance at mid-day and another larger skein of c250 north at dusk. A couple from Dewsbury saw 3 Goldcrests, and Willow Tit and Coal Tit were attracted to the bird feeder. Sparrowhawk and Buzzard were seen several times and a Fox was lazing near the Wader scrape with potential to bother the lapwings and gulls on there. 2 Little Owls were in the same Hawthorn, they were difficult to see though. As dusk  approached Bittern flew across the scrape to another reed bed and 2 Barn Owls were hunting at 17.22hrs. Today's observers were CG/Richard Laverack/Dave Standish/ Linda and Colin Graham)
