2 Ringed Plovers and 1 Little Ringed Plover were on the wader scrape on the 14th (R.J. Boland). They were followed by a Redshank on the 15th and 16th (K. Bannister et al). A Cuckoo was also present.
Today 18th May. A late arriving Lesser Whitethroat was singing and 2 Lapwings were present (JP).

An Oystercatcher flew north from the wader scrape at 06.55hrs (Keith Bannister).
A Peregrine in stoop mode was seen over Royston Road, to the east of the reserve recording area, and 2 Lesser Whitethroats sang from the Albert Street Allotments (JP).
A Waved Umber moth found its way into Dave Standish's kitchen last night at Firth Avenue, Low Cudworth.

2 Tawny Owls were in their regular roost this morning, but had moved out of site by mid-day.
A Goldcrest sang near the hide and 3 House Matins flew north over the wader scrape.
Butterflies included 2m Brimstone. A Blue-tailed Damselfly was the first for this year.
Francis Hickenbottom visited this morning and provided us with a new species of fungi - Hawthorn Leaf Blight (Monilinia johnsonii).

Goldeneye 1 adult male CP + 1 female WRes..
Oystercatcher 5 adults CP
+ a flock of 11 flew north west over CP at 09.46hrs.
Mallard 9 young ( 1 yellow).
A Common Sandpiper spent the day on the wader scrape (JP et al).
It's good to know there are still 2 Grey Partridges around.
Insects included the first Small Heath of the Year, 12 Peacock, 2 Comma, 5 Speckled Wood, 2m Brimstone, 49 Orange-tips (15 of which were female), 1 Large White, 7 G.V. White, and 5 Small White.
Also of note Brown Silver Line moth, Green Tiger Beetle, Click Beetle (Athous haemorrhoidalis). Common Blue and Azure Damselfly were on the wing and the first Four Spot Chaser of the year. (Chris Parkin).

Also a control Sedge Warbler, apparently ringed yesterday, (but not here!!)

A Common Sandpiper spent its second day on the wader scrape (JP/K. Bannister et al), but there was no sign of the Pink Feet Geese.

This morning 2 singing Cetti's Warbler, 5 Reed Warbler, 2 Sedge Warbler, 12 Chiffchaff and 6 Blackcap.
2 Grey Partridge were on a tilled field (L & A Corrall).
This afternoon a Common Sandpiper was on the wader scrape at 14.00hrs and an Oystercatcher flew south over the scrape at 16.00hrs. A Kingfisher flew over the reed beds (CG).
The Pink Feet had gone AWOL and were seen at Anglers Country Park (G.J. Speight)
86 species of bird were recorded in the area today - GJ Speight.
Biggest Dip - SWIFT! (there were 50 yesterday!)
