The Edge

Broomhill Flash Mid AM-  Even with the low temperatures, the slight breeze has resulted in the flash being ice-free. On the open water were 18 Wigeon,8 Pochard,  6 Tufted duck, 5 Shoveler, 5 Mallard, 1m+1f Goldeneye and 2 Common Gull. In the back field were 70+ Canada Geese and 15 Red Legged Partridge. Also present were 4 Redwing, 2 Mistle Thrush, 1 Kestrel and 1 Grey Heron.

Bolton Ings late AM/ early PM- The few small areas of ice on the eastern pool melted by noon. On the open water were 1 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe, 2 adult+1 juv Mute Swan, 66 Gadwall, 19 Pochard, 15+ Mallard, 8 Teal,  6 Shoveler,5 Tufted Duck, 2f+1m Goldeneye, 1m+1f Goosander and 7 Common Gull. Also present were 2 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 13 Lapwing, 2 Snipe, 15 Canada Geese, 2 Kestrel, 2 Jay, 70+ Waxwing on TPT, 6 Redwing, 1 Green Woodpecker and 1 Bullfinch.
