Cudworth Common

A walk round with Les Corrall this morning provided the following;
Green Woodpecker, Lesser Whitethroat singing, drake Shoveler, Cuckoo singing, Canada Goose with 4 young, 4 Redshanks, 1 Ringed Plover & 2 Mute Swans. Lapwings also had young.
Butterflies counted were Small Heath 28, Large White 2, Brimstone 9 males, Dingy Skipper 8 & a Mother Shipton moth was feeding on Trefoil. Several Azure and 1 Large Red Damselfly was note worthy

Edderthorpe Flash
2 Avocets, 5 Ringed Plovers, 2 Little Ringed Plovers, 2 Redshanks & 2 Common Terns. Also 4 Dingy Skippers, 1 Small Copper, 4 Small Heaths & 2 male Brimstones.  A male Banded Demoiselle was flying near the river.

River Dearne (Ardsley Viaduct to Storrs Mill bridge)
A female kingfisher took a fish into a nest & a male sang at another location further down stream.

Rabbit Ings (per Ray Dye)
2 male & 1 female (ovipositing) Broad Bodied Chaser, with good numbers of Small Heath butterfly.



In Ray's garden at Smithies there are lots of Tree Bees.
