Edderthorpe & Cudworth Common

Edderthorpe Flash
Avocet 2, Ringed Plover 14, LRP 5.
Cudworth Common
This site is a diamond for breeding waders, so long as water is kept in and the moat full enough to keep off predators (animal and human). Plenty of broods of Lapwing (some close to fledging), 3 pairs of Redshank - 1 with a brood of 3 well grown young, Ringed Plover 2 pairs - 1 with 3 young.
And in the adjacent Symphony enclosure - at least 10 broods of Lapwing (some close to fledging), a pair of Ringed Plover with 2 young, pair of Redshank and a displaying LRP. This relatively undisturbed enclosure gives some insight into what the countryside might be like without dogs, quadbikes and human disturbance- full of wildlife!!

Graham, I noticed yesterday how bare it was on the Symphony area as though it had been sprayed!

Yes, I thought exactly the same but the numbers of young waders and Skylarks in there would seem to disagree with us.
