Wintersett 01.07.14

20°C by midday, 4/8,  sunny and hot with a slight easterly.
Anglers CP: Little Gull 1 1st Summer.  Common Tern 2 pairs with 1 fledged young and 1 small young. Little Grebe 1 adult + 1 young,  Mallard 5 vs young,  Canada Goose 143 and Grey Partridge 1 in fields.
Insects:  White Letter Hairstreak  1 StubbsWood and  1 HPLane.
Yesterday a new beetle species for the Wintersett area was caught in a mist net and later confirmed by Mike Denton.  Its a Sexton (burying) beetle -  Nicrophorus vespilloides.

This afternoon we had a jaunt to Houghton Washlands and saw a Clouded Yellow Butterfly.
