Carlton Marsh & Cudworth Common

This morning at Carlton Marsh - 2 Cormorants, 7 Tufted Ducks, 25 Teal, 2 Common Gulls. Also of note 4 Goldcrests, Great Spotted and Green Woodpecker, 1 Siskin, 4 Redwings, 1 Song Thrush, 2 Buzzards and the resident Mute and Whooper Swans. A Fox was patrolling the wader scrape (Les & Andrew Corrall).

Littleworth Park Monk Bretton
3 Siskins (a first for this site), 46 Magpies, 25 House Sparrows and 15 Chaffinches (Chris Parkin).

Ferrymoor Flash
6 Goosanders (3m 3f), 19 Teal, 1 drake Pochard, 1 Lesser Redpoll and a singing Song Thrush. The dead Mute Swan is Red Y189. She was ringed at Angler's Country Park 20/6/07 as a 1st winter female. She died in the recent cold weather.


Cudworth Common Flashes
1 Snipe, c50 Magpies roosted, and at least 40 Pied Wagtails roosted in a small stand of Phragmites. (CG)

Shafton
A Red Kite was hunting fields to the north of Beech Road for the third time since December 28th.
