Carlton Marsh

It's still pretty quiet bird wise, but Kingfisher and Cormorant were busy fishing near the hide. Mallard and Gadwall numbers are rising now so the next WEBS count should see even more.

Although there weren't large number of butterflies on the wing, the Northern Meadow did produce the best results with a beautiful Clouded Yellow feeding on Devil's Bit Scabious, (the first since September 2022). 2  Painted Lady, 8 Red Admiral, 17 Meadow Brown, 3 Common Blue, 16 Speckled Wood, 2 Comma and a magnificent record count of 36 Small Copper.
