Had an eight hour trek around (literally) all the Ingbirchworth reservoirs this morning/afternoon.
The highlights being:-
Broadstones Reservoir - 2 Grey Partridges, 5 Oystercatchers incl. a pair with 3 young, c400 Starlings, a pair of Grey Wagtails giving alarm calls and 8 singing Reed Buntings.
Whitley Common - 72 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.
Ingbirchworth Reservoir - 9 Tufted Ducks, two pairs of Great Crested Grebe (one pair displaying), two pairs of Coot with 4y + 7y, a pair of Curlew with 1+ young, a pair of Great Spotted Woodpeckers with 3 young and 2 singing Blackcaps.
Scout Dike Reservoir - 17 Canada Geese, three pairs of Great Crested Grebes incl two pairs with 2y + 1y and nine pairs of Coot with 24 young.
Royd Moor Reservoir - 1 Greylag Goose, 2 Little Grebes, two broods of 2y + 4y Moorhens and at least 5 Common Whitethroats carrying f.ood.
Royd Moor Hill/Royd Moor - 6+ singing Skylarks.
Mammals
A younge Badger dead on the A616 near Midhopestones and Brown Hares at Broadstones Reservoir and Fullshaw.
Butterflies
Didn't make any counts of the commoner species, but included Small Copper (1), Peacock (2), Speckled Wood, Small Heath, Green-veined White, Small White and Large White.
