Wintersett 05.09.13

21°C,  warm and sunny with a WNW wind ,  except on Anglers Hill where it  was 5° cooler.
Wintersett Res:  Highlight today was a juvenile Black Tern which was picked up early this morning, before it flew onto Anglers CP at 09.00hrs.  A Lesser Whitethroat was on Botany Hill and a flock of 100 Linnet was in the north bank field.
Anglers CP Vis. Mig.:  There was a trickle of migrants throughout the morning including:  Snipe 8 W,  Cormorant 6 W,  Swallow 26 S,  Yellow Wagtail 1 S + 1 SE, Meadow Pipit 2 S and Curlew W at 10.45hrs.   2  Teal  and a Common Tern dropped in  and 14 Shoveler joined the 7 present at 10.55hrs.
Anglers CP: Common Sandpiper 1,  Cormorant 11, Pochard 8 + 35 WRes.,   Yellow-legged Gull 1 3rd Summer + 1 adult. 
Excellent News: The ♀ Goldeneye, that has over summered due to wing injury, has completed moulting  and is now practising flying around the lake.
