The best day for raptors for a while.
Wombwell Ings mid AM- 3 Kestrel and 1 Buzzard was a good start. Also present were 5 Grey Heron, 4 Little Egret, 3 Mute Swan, 350+ Canada Geese, 39 Greylag, 137 Teal, 54 Mallard, 26 Gadwall, 8 Tufted Duck, 4 Shoveler, 80+ Lapwing, 4 Dunlin, 3 Snipe, 3 Greenshank, 2 Ringed Plover, 2 Ruff, 18 BH Gull, 2 LBB Gull, 15+ Pied Wagtail, 5+ Yellow Wagtail, 4 Linnet and 1 Wheatear.
Broomhill Flash late AM-A pass by a Peregrine at 10.32 am was the highlight. Also present were 2 Cormorant, 24 Litle Grebe, 3 Little Egret, 2 Grey Heron, 2 Mute Swan, 94 Mallard, 38 Tufted Duck, 5 Shoveler, 1f Pochard, 2 Kestrel, 50+ Lapwing, 1 Greenshank, 1 LBB Gull, 2 Yellow Wagtail, 6 Red Legged Partridge, 200+ Swallow, 50+ Sand Martin and 30+ House Martin.
Bolton Ings early PM- 3 Sparrowhawk soaring overhead for 5 minutes at 12.37 was followed 10 minutes later by a Peregrine swooping through. Also present were 10 Cormorant, 23 Little Grebe, 2a+4juv Great Crested Grebe, 3 Grey Heron, 2 Mute Swan+2juv,114+ Gadwall, 38 Tufted Duck, 10+ Mallard, 5 Shoveler, 3m Pochard, 2 Wigeon, 147 Lapwing, 1 Snipe, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Kestrel, 1 LBB Gull, 1 Grey Wagtail and 1 singing Chiffchaff.
