The Edge 4th Feb

Wombwell Ings mid AM-About 60% of main flash covered with ice. Present were 2 Mute Swan, 7 Canada Geese, 3 Shelduck, 19 Wigeon, 13 Mallard, 10 Gadwall, 8 Teal, 5 Tufted Duck (on R.Dearne), 4 Shoveler, 1 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Cormorant over, 36 Lapwing, 74 BH Gull, 4 Common Gull, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Mistle Thrush, 9 Meadow Pipit, 1 Pied Wagtail and 4 Reed Bunting.
Broomhill Flash late AM- 75%ice-free. Noted were 151 Canada Geese, a skein of c.90 Pink Footed Geese west at 10.55am, 2 Greylag, 110 Wigeon, 41 Mallard, 25 Gadwall, 18 Teal, 11 Pochard, 6 Tufted Duck, 1m+2f Goldeneye, 31 Coot, 6 Moorhen, 81 BH Gull, 2 Common Gull, 1 Herring Gull, 1 LBB Gull, 1 Kestrel and 2 Pied Wagtail.
Bolton Ings late AM/early PM- Over 90% ice-covered. On the open water were 2 Mute Swan, 1 Canada Goose, 29 Gadwall, 22 Shoveler, 13 Teal, 10 Tufted Duck, 7 Pochard, a pair of Goldeneye, 1 Little Grebe, 24 Coot, 37 BH Gull and 6 Common Gull. On the land between the two pools were 46 Greylag.
TPT- Most notable were a flock of c60 Goldfinch, c8 Redpoll and 1 Jay.
