2 Grey Wagtails were feeding near the hide, a Goldcrest was singing in the car park and a Kingfisher and 2 juvenile Dabchicks were on the scrape.
Insects included 1 Large Red Damselfly, 1f Black-tailed Skimmer, 1f Broad-bodied Chaser, 1m Orange-tip, 2 Dingy Skipper and 1 Burnet Companion (L. & A. Corrall/CG).
A Red Kite flew south over Oldroyd Avenue, Cudworth at 17.56hrs (K. Bannister).
Looking back, May was very good for bird sightings with 84 species, which equalled the 1993 record! The highlights were Cuckoo, Egyptian Goose, Garganey, Hobby, Mandarin Duck, Oystercatcher, Quail, Red Kite, Little Ringed Plover and Marsh Harrier. Well done to all our dedicated observers.
