Old Moor area pm

Old Moor: 3 Garganey, 9 Wigeon, Marsh Harrier, 2 Buzzards, Peregrine, 2 Ringed Plover, 12 Golden Plover, 5 Greenshank , 3 Spotted Redshank (2 ads, 1 juv), 10 Green Sands, 4 Common Sands, 3 Ruff, 4 Black-tailed Godwits.

Wombwell Ings: 3 Wigeon, Garganey, 104 Gadwall, 12 Shoveler, Marsh Harrier, 5 Greenshank.

Broomhill Flash: Black-necked Grebe.

I did not see the Wood Sand (though it has been reported) but suspect it has gone as it was extremely vociferous at dusk yesterday, normally a cue for the off. A Garganey on Wombwell Ings whilst three were on Wath Ings confirmed as suspected there are four in the area. An Osprey is written in the book for this morning but with no other details than 'through'. Known reliable observers who were down all morning didn't see it but obviously its not unlikely with one blogging nearby at the moment. And finally the report of 20 Greenshank this morning was a mix-up but there are probably about ten in the area in total.

Picture story time now..........

A newly arriving Ruff at Wath Ings
clearly likes what it sees
and soon learns you can mix-it with the Moorhens.......................
but you should never mess with the Wath Coots!
