Juvenile Red-necked Phalarope on Wath Ings - Keith Pickering |
The
Red-necked Phal' remained on Wath Ings until dusk along with 3 Garganey, 4 Dunlin, Wood Sandpiper and
3 Spotted Redshanks. Four Little Egrets roosted on Willow Pool and a Hobby flew over carrying prey. Two Marsh Harriers were seen earlier. A Black-necked Grebe that featured on the pager at Old Moor is presumed erroneous or just a Broomhill mix-up, unless of course you know different?

Juvenile Red-necked Phalarope on Wath Ings - Keith Pickering. We had been talking about a phalarope hat-trick ever since the appearance of a Red-necked in May and a Grey in July. Not quite what we meant but who's complaining? |
