Numbers of big gulls in the Country Park roost at Wintersett were reminiscent of the 1980's tonight, with the counts of Herring Gulls and Great Black-backed Gulls being the largest November counts since that period. In fact 553 Herring Gulls is a November record for the Wintersett Area, whilst 82 Great Black-backed and 221 Lesser Black-backed were also impressive counts for the time of year.
They were also joined by the regular, now adult, Yellow-legged Gull.
Hopefully, we are in for a good winters worth of gulling!

PS - forgot to add, there was a very good candidate for Baltic Gull in the roost. A small, white-headed, very long winged, black backed adult bird was picked up sat on the water late in the evening.
