Mediterranean Magic

At Old Moor today 6 Mediterranean Gulls were seen on the Mere. The regular late shift, myself and Wath Coot saw 5 birds this evening but we couldn't find the red ringed first summer seen and photographed this afternoon. The birds we did see were as follows - 2E26 and his one legged mate on Island 2, the ringed adult male with the missing primary commuting between Islands 1 and 2, the full winged ringed adult on Island 1 and the unringed first summer also on Island 1. A great sight and who knows how many we will end up with, some may even breed if they can sort themselves out.

2 Bitterns booming 'loud and proud' throughout, a Common Sandpiper on the Reedbeds, a Little Ringed Plover on the Field Pools and a Dunlin on the Wader Scrape.

Continuing with the Gull theme, an adult Black Headed Gull with a white Darvic on its right leg seen on the Field Pools but too far away to read the ring number.
