The Edge 30th Apr

Wombwell Ings mid AM- Present were 2 Grey Heron, 1 Mute Swan, 35 Canada Geese, 26 Greylag, 5 Shelduck, 34 Gadwall, 18 Mallard, 16 Tufted Duck, 1 Shoveler, 4 Redshank, 12 Lapwing+4y, 4 Dunlin(present 9.32 to 9.34am), 3 Little Ringed Plover, 2 Avocet,  2 Snipe, 1 Common Sandpiper, 5 Red Legged Partridge, 5 Skylark, 1 Song Thrush and 1 Whitethroat.
Bolton Ings late AM/early PM- Mick Rushton went 2-1 up to lead me in the comical fall contest but this time he landed on dry land. Warbler Way lived up to its name with singing males including 12 Chiffchaff, 10 Willow Warbler, 10 Blackcap, 5 Whitethroat, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Sedge Warbler, 1 Grasshopper Warbler, 2 Yellowhammer, 1 Song Thrush and 1 yaffling Green Woodpecker. On the open water were 2 Black Necked Grebe, 5 Little Grebe, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Mute Swan, 34 Tufted Duck, 9 Mallard, 9 Pochard, 8 Gadwall, 3 Shoveler, c 400 BH Gull  and 1 Common Gull. Also present were 11 Canada Geese, 8 Greylag, 1 Sparrowhawk, 4 Mediterranean Gull, 1 LBB Gull, 2 Common Tern (flew east at 1.14pm), 1 Oystercatcher and 2 Kingfisher.
A large red Damselfly was seen on Warbler Way.
