Edderthorpe, Saturday

Surprisingly, most of the waders present last night were still present this morning (and I received a telling off for tweeting the news out too early and waking up a not-so-early-riser who had forgotten to turn her alerts off on her bedside phone), the 5 Sanderlings were joined by another mid morning making a total of 6, along with the 2 Dunlin, up to 18 Ringed and 4 Little Ringed Plovers, and 16 Redshank. A Hobby flew over the Flash at 07.40 and a cream-crown Marsh Harrier was low over Houghton Washland at 08.40 before drifting off down the valley. A Shelduck, 2 drake Teal and 117 Coot make up some of the numbers with 2 Cuckoos still present but generally elusive.
