Carlton Marsh

Very busy this morning refencing the northern meadow to keep the horses in. Meanwhile a large group of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust team leaders were strimming and managing scrub in the marsh as well as thinning out large stand trees in the north bank plantation. Our thanks to them for a great job done.
During all this the highlights were 2 Cormorants, 20 Siskin, 1 LBB Gull, possible juv. YL Gull and Grey Wagtail. 23 Pink Feet Geese flew west at 11.45hrs.

Storrs Mill Wood area
Buzzard 2, Sparrowhawk, Green Woodpecker, Cormorant and 2 Grey Partridge.
Butterflies included Red Admiral 7, Peacock 1, Small Tortoiseshell 1, Comma 1 and Small Copper 6.
Moths found were Grey Shoulder Knot, November Moth sp. and Silver Y 4. There were also hundreds of Harlequin Ladybirds. (Chris Parkin)
This was reflected in my garden and no doubt everybody else's, that's how common they were today in the sunshine.
