Diptera: Thank you to John Coldwell for identifying this fly seen at WRes. 22.05.19
This is the soldierfly Stratiomys singularior, mainly a coastal species but it can be found inland. It's by no means common inland, although over the years, I've seen it at a number of marshy sites around Barnsley from time to time.
Coleoptera:Thank you to Mike Denton for identifying 2 beetles seen on reeds at WRes on  22.05.19

This reed beetle is Donacia simplex.
It has previously been reported from
Blue Bridge and Nostell Fish Ponds.

The ladybird is Anisosticta 19-punctata, which has the common name of
Water Ladybird. It has been recorded previously from Wintersett (site
only) and two localities along the Barnsley Canal.
