Back to the Edge

Broomhill Flash mid morning- Wonderful to see Wim Man's cryptic message in real life. Cream crown Marsh Harrier from 10am to 10.25( when it flew off north towards Edderthorpe). Also present were 2 Common Sandpiper, 2 Green Sandpiper, 24 Mallard, 24 Gadwall, 5 Tufted Duck, 25+ Lapwing, 40+ Sand Martin, 1 Common Tern, 2 Little Grebe and a juvenile Great Crested Grebe.

Bolton Ings Late morning- Marsh Harrier over Bolton west end at 11 am. Buzzard in same area 20 mins later. A lone Willow Warbler was the only singing bird . On the open water were 3 adult Mute Swan and 2 cygnets, 4 Great Crested Grebe, 5 Little Grebe and a brood of 3, 27 Tufted duck ( broods of  5,5 and 4), 5 Gadwall + brood of 8, 10 Mallard and 4 Pochard. Also seen were 2 Willow Tit , 3 Kestrel, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Cormorant, 1 Yellowhammer and 15+ Lapwing.

Wombwell Ings (B. Emson)- Wood Sandpiper, 3 Green Sandpiper, 2  Redshank, 1 Black Tailed Godwit, 1 Marsh Harrier, 3 Whitethroat and 2 Lesser Whitethroat.
