The Edge 7th Apr

Wombwell Ings mid AM- Looks like our winter visitors have left for colder climes with no sign of any Wigeon and only 4 Teal being seen. Present were 1 Cormorant, 2 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Mute Swan, 52 Canada Geese, 12 Greylag, 2 Shelduck, 28 Tufted Duck, 20 Mallard, 19 Gadwall, 12 Shoveler, 21 Lapwing, 4+ Redshank, 3 Curlew, 1 Green Sandpiper, 83 BH Gull, 2 Common Gull, 2 Red Legged Partridge, 1 Song Thrush, 4+ Skylark, 3 Meadow Pipit, 2 Chiffchaff and 1 Kingfisher.
Broomhill Flash late AM- A Kittiwake flew in at 9.46am but harassment by BH Gulls resulted in it leaving at 10.03 am  for Wombwell Ings where it received similar treatment and so departed northwards. Also present were 3 Little Grebe, 2 Mute Swan, 56 Canada Geese, 13 Greylag, 1 Pink Footed Goose, 1 Shelduck, 15 Tufted Duck, 6 Mallard, 5 Gadwall, 4 Shoveler, 1 Kestrel, 1 Common Gull, 2 Redshank, 2 Curlew, 4 Red Legged Partridge, 10 Swallow and 4 Sand Martin.
Bolton Ings lateAM/early PM- Bamf decided to join Mick Rushton, Seev+menagerie and me to go Bolton Wandering. On the open water were 4 Little Grebe, 4 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Mute Swan, 27 Tufted Duck, 11 Pochard, 12 Mallard, 4 Gadwall, 429 BH Gull and 1 Common Gull. Also present were 9 Canada Geese, 8 Greylag, 1 Pink Footed Goose, 2 Oystercatcher, 2 Lapwing, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 3 Sand Martin, 2 Jay and 1 Grey Wagtail.
9 Chiffchaff and 2/3 Blackcap were singing along the TPT(Trans Pennine Trail).

Broomhill Flash late additions.

A Barn Owl was quartering near the hide c20.30hrs. Also a Daubenton's bat was flying around the car park.
