Edderthorpe, Thursday morning

The Glossy Ibis has returned to Houghton Wash after its short break to Fairburn - it flew in at 05.50 this morning. A Barnacle Goose amongst 21 Canada Geese is also new in. Shelduck 4, Teal 1 drake, Shoveler 4 and a fledged juvenile Ringed Plover are all on Houghton. Two Great Crested Grebes are on Edderthorpe - an uncommon bird here, usually occuring after heavy rain washes them out from other waters. A calling Cuckoo is the first I've heard by the Flash this summer - the closest are on Cudworth Common.
