The Edge 16th July

Wombwell Ings - Present were 3 Greylag, 39 Mallard, 12 Gadwall, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Wigeon, 5 Grey Heron, 3 Little Egret, 4 Coot, 2 Moorhen, 30 Lapwing, 31 BH Gull and 3 Skylark.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2 Mute Swan +5 cygnets, 43 Canada Geese, 6+6y Gadwall, 7+12y Tufted Duck, 6 Mallard, 8 Little Grebe, 1 Little Egret, 113 Coot, 5+1y Moorhen, 32 Lapwing, 3 Snipe, 4 Kestrel, 2 LBB Gull, 1 Common Gull and 1 Barn Owl.
Warbler Way - Singing males included 7 Chiffchaff, 6 Blackcap, 5 Whitethroat, 2 Sedge Warbler, 2 Grasshopper Warbler, 1 Willow Warbler, 1 Lesser Whitethroat and 1 Yellowhammer. Also seen were a party of 5 feeding Garden Warbler and a brief view of a Bittern( 12pm ) as it flew from Old Moor to Bolton Ings .
Bolton Ings -Highlights were the extensive views of a Bittern as it flew back to Old Moor at 1pm and 5 Black Tailed Godwit  still in summer plumage. On the open water were 3 Mute Swan + 7 cygnets, 28 Canada Geese, 6 Greylag, 174+5y Gadwall, 20+32y Tufted Duck, 16+3y Pochard, 2 Shoveler, 2 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 6+4y Great Crested Grebe, 7+3y Little Grebe, 222+14y Coot, and 4+2y Moorhen. Also present were 1 LBB Gull, 1 Lapwing  and 1 Grey Wagtail.
