Wintersett 05.07.15

15 - 22°,  warm with scattered cloud and a light easterly this morning.  Short sharp thunderstorm at 16.00hrs.   No megas but a very good variety of species here.
 Wintersett Res: A Black-necked Grebe was out in the middle this morning until the boats came out. (Old Moor Bird?   Tell the Little Bittern we also have reeds and the fish have spawned.)   Common Tern 1 and Kingfisher 1.
40 birds were ringed this morning, including: 13 Chiffchaff,  10 Willow Warbler,  6 Blackcap,  5 Whitethroat and 1 Garden Warbler. 
Anglers CP:  A REDSTART near the hide, was new for the year list.  Grey Wagtail 3 juv.,  Yellow Wagtail 1m,  Curlew 1,  Oystercatcher 2 adults + 1 juv.,  Cormorant 1,  Gadwall 3,  Coot 79,  Greylag Goose 61,  Canada Goose 82.  There was lots of activity around the Sand Martin Box with more birds prospecting.
Odonata:   A male BANDED DEMOISELLE was seen on a Bramble patch WRes.  This species hasn't been seen here for a number of years.  4 male Red-veined Darter were off the east bank ACP  and a Southern Hawker was in the Pits Wood area.
