The Edge 04/01/2019

Wombwell Ings - Present were 5 Mute Swan, 12 Canada Geese, 8 Greylag, 169 Wigeon, 11 Shoveler, 10 Mallard, 9 Teal, 1 Tufted Duck, 1 Cormorant, 5 Moorhen, 1 Coot, c200 Golden Plover over west at 9.18am, 37 Lapwing, 104 BH Gull, 2 Common Gull, 1 Pied Wagtail, 7 Redwing and 4 Fieldfare. P. Kent also had 2 Stonechat near the corner pond.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2 Mute Swan, 34 Canada Geese, 11 Greylag, 1 Shelduck, 33 Gadwall, 33 Teal, 24 Wigeon, 11 Tufted Duck, 7 Shoveler, 6 Mallard, 1 Pochard, 1 Cormorant,1 Kestrel,  67 Lapwing, 112 BH Gull, 4 Common Gull and 1 LBB Gull.
Bolton Ings - Highlight was a hunting Barn Owl; twice over the near edge of the eastern pond and once over the far edge. On the open water were 2 Mute Swan, 74 Greylag, 6 Pochard, 3m+3f Goosander, 2 Mallard, 2 Gadwall, 2 Tufted Duck, 10 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 358 Coot, 3 Common Gull and 1 BH Gull. Also present were 2 Marsh Harrier, 1 Kestrel, 2 Kingfisher (on Knoll Beck) and 1 Jay.
