The Edge 30/04/2019

Wombwell Ings - Highlight was standing on the bridge across from the Old Moor Tavern and watching at eye level, and no more than 3 metres away, a Treecreeper searching for food on the underside of a branch. Present were 4 Mute Swans, 7 Greylag, 3 Canada Geese, 21 Gadwall, 5 Mallard, 4 Teal, 3 Shoveler, 2 Tufted Duck, 2 Pochard, 21 Coot, 2 Moorhen, 6+ Lapwing, 3 Redshank, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Snipe, 35 BH Gull, 1 Kingfisher, 8+ Skylark, c20 House Martin, 10+ Swallow, 3 Yellow Wagtail, 2 Pied Wagtail, 1 Meadow Pipit, 1 Mistle Thrush and 2 Linnet. Singing in Old Broomhill Park were 2 Blackcap, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Lesser Whitethroat and 1 Song Thrush.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2 Mute Swan, 27 Canada Geese, 2 Shelduck, 25 Gadwall, 15 Tufted Duck, 8 Mallard, 3 Shoveler, 1 Pochard, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe, 19 Coot, 4 Lapwing,  2 Oystercatcher, 2 Common Sandpiper, 1 Black Tailed Godwit, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 2 LBB Gull and 1 Swift. P. Kent also had 2 Mediterranean Gull and 1 Golden Plover early morning.
TPT - Singing males 12 Chiffchaff, 9 Willow Warbler, 5 Blackcap, 4 Whitethroat, 1 Sedge Warbler and 1 yaffling Green Woodpecker.
Bolton Ings - On the open water were 14 Mute Swan, 7 Greylag, 1 Canada Goose, 9 Gadwall, 8 Mallard, 4m+2f Pochard, 4 Tufted Duck, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe, 1 Cormorant, 43+6y Coot, 2 LBB Gull and 1 Common Gull. Also present were 1 Bittern (flying towards Old Moor at 12.15pm ), 2 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Grey Wagtail, a singing Song Thrush, a reeling Grasshopper Warbler and 1 Bullfinch.
