The Edge 03/06/2019

Wombwell Ings - Birds are starting to use the new Fleet area in the Chirle (back)  field. This  morning included 3 Little Ringed Plover, 2 Dunlin, 1 Redshank, 15+ House Martins collecting mud for nestbuilding and several Skylarks. Present on the Ings were 5 Mute Swan, 5 Canada Geese, 3 Greylag, 3 Shelduck, 10 Mallard, 9 Gadwall, 3 Tufted Duck, 2 Teal, 1 Shoveler, 3 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 7 Lapwing, 3 Ringed Plover, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 2 Redshank, 1 Oystercatcher, 77 BH Gull and 20+ Swift. Keith Fisher also had 10 Black Tailed Godwits at 5am.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2 Mute Swan, 67 Canada Geese, 2+2y Greylag, 2 Shelduck, 18 Mallard, 18 Gadwall, 14 Tufted Duck, 3 Shoveler, 2 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Little Egret, 37 Coot, 4 Moorhen, 8+2y Lapwing, 2 LBB Gull and 3 Pied Wagtail.
Brickworks - K. Fisher had 2 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Garden Warbler, 1 Treecreeper and a Barn Owl hunting over the old tip.
TPT - Singing males 6 Blackcap, 5 Chiffchaff, 4 Willow Warbler, 4 Whitethroat, 3 Sedge Warbler and 1 yaffling Green Woodpecker.
Bolton Ings - On the open water were 4+5y Mute Swan, 26+2y Greylag, 2 Canada Geese, 14 Tufted Duck, 11+1y Pochard, 7 Gadwall, 6 Mallard, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe and 62+4y Coot. Also present were 1 Little Egret, 1 Buzzard and 1 Green Woodpecker.
