Newmillerdam - 29 December 2016

About 90% of the water was covered in ice, thick enough to withstand the numerous rocks, branches and sticks chucked on by the kids out for a Christmas walk.

Highlights today were a teal, a wigeon and a flock of siskin. I've visited the site 28 times in the last two years and all three were new site records for me.

Carrion crow, woodpigeon, starling, blackbird, jay, mistle thrush, blue tit, robin, great tit, dunnock, black-headed gull, magpie, goldcrest, bullfinch, wren, kingfisher, siskin, long-tailed tit, mallard, little grebe, teal, coot, nuthatch, mute swan, goldfinch, tufted duck, Canada goose, great-crested grebe, wigeon, moorhen, common gull.
