Wintersett, Wilthorpe, Worsbrough & Wind!!!

Myself and Gary Haywood had a decent day bird wise, despite the wind (and not from yesterday's sprouts!).

Wintersett - 100+ plus Skylark and at least 6 Grey Partridge in the fields at Cold Hiendley. Nearby, there was a single Pink-footed Goose at Old Royston Flash.

Wilthorpe Marsh - Dropped on Mr Green for his guided tour of the local birding hotspots. The sewage works held between 40-50 Pied Wagtail, although viewing is poor. Other birds included 4 Jack Snipe, 10+ Snipe, Water Rail, c.25 Teal, female Pintail (rare at this site), 3 Little Grebe, Green Sandpiper and 1 Chiffchaff. In other news ... a UFO sighting turned out to be Mr Green's hat flying south.

A dead Barn Owl was on the slip road along junction 38 (northbound) of the M1 where they merge, therefore an awkward place to check for rings!.

Worsbrough  - Called in at the res on the way home: 7 GCGrebe, 13 Coot, 2 male Tufted and Herring Gull.
