3 Tawny Owls were calling before daybreak. With one net, 20 birds ringed included 9 Blackcaps, 2 Reed Warblers, 1 Chiffchaff, 4 Reed Buntings, 1 Goldfinch and 1 Treecreeper.
A Water Rail called nearby and 25 Pink Feet Geese flew east at 07.27hrs (K. Bannister). A Grey Wagtail flew north and 10 Meadow Pipits (singles) flew south along with a similar number of Skylarks. There was a slight increase in the number of Blackbirds and Song Thrushes, they were very flighty. 10 Bullfinch was a good number and 2 +1 Willow Tits were present and c35 Goldfinches were feeding on Alder seeds.
