Carlton Marsh

We were all pre-occupied with cutting back the ringing rides, but on his way home Richard Laverack had our first Willow Warbler singing near the wader scrape at mid-day. This bird equalled the earliest ever of 2005!

5 very mobile Redpolls dropped in, 6 Chiffchaff were singing, Kingfisher was present along with 126 Herring Gulls and 5 LBB Gulls. A Cetti's Warbler sang from reedbeds to the right of the first seat on the embankment and a Willow Tit called further along near the double seats (CG)

A Fox was on the prowl and 6 Peacock and 4 Comma Butterflies were about (Dave Smith).

Storrs Mill Wood - Ardsley Viaduct
Butterflies included 32 Small Tortoiseshell, 18 Peacock and 12 Comma. The first Bluebells and Wood Anemones were in bloom and a Grass Snake was seen (Chris Parkin).
