Wildfowl this morning included 25 Canada and 10 Greylag Geese, 15 Tufted Duck (10 drakes), 1 drake Pochard, 2 Little Grebes, Little Egret, 61 Herring Gulls, and 4 Snipe. (Richard Laverack/CG)
This morning Dave Standish put up the first Blue Tit nest boxes made and donated by local birder John Finch. These are state of the art boxes made of stone with wooden bottoms and slate roofs. Inside is a circular plastic pipe with little bits of wood glued on to the side for the young to climb up when fledging. The bottom can be swivelled for cleaning. The most important thing is they should be Squirrel and Woodpecker proof.
Thanks John
