Wintersett + Gull Roosts 18.02.16

0 - 5 degrees,  cold but sunny with a light westerly this morning.  Scattered cloud this afternoon.
Wintersett Res:  A male Cetti's Warbler was singing on the north bank and 1 was heard on the west bank.  2 Barn Owls were hunting on the east bank at dawn.     Water Rail 1 WB + 1 BHReeds.   A Siskin flew over.  Grey Wagtail 1.
Anglers CP: Shoveler 2,  Oystercatcher 3 ,  Wood Pigeon 650.
Anglers CP Gull Roost was building up nicely, with huge numbers of big gulls arriving from Hampole after 17.00hrs, with 1/2 coming to ACP and 1/2 going to WRes.
4 notables were picked up in quick succession: A 1stW Caspian Gull at 17.10hrs,  the 2ndW Iceland Gull at 17.15hrs,  another 1stW Caspian at 17.20hrs and a 3rdW Caspian at 17.25hrs.
Unfortunately a 'dread' occurred on ACP and most of the big gulls joined those on WRes.
Two observers  (PS, JH) dashed over to view from the boathouse, which revealed huge numbers of big gulls roosting in the gloom, but alas, too distant and too dark to pick up any further notables.
