Carlton Marsh 24/3/16

This morning 3 Buzzards gave brilliant views as they soared quite low over the scrape, one much smaller than the others was probably a male. Also present 20 Teal, 5 pairs of Tufted Duck, 1 pair of Shoveler, 20 Gadwall, Water Rail, Redshank, 4 Linnet, Coal Tit and 2 singing Chiffchaff.

During the afternoon 4 Redshanks were feeding on the wader scrape with 2 Snipe and 3 Lapwing.  A Water Rail was singing from the main marsh and Willow Tit and Kingfisher were present as 3 Cormorant flew north. The Klaxon of the sand train to Ardagh Glassworks flushed 30 Redwing and a Barn Owl quartered over the scrape at 17.00hrs.
