Following all the snow and rain yesterday the River Dearne was very high overnight. Early this morning it had breached the banks and was emptying into Houghton Washland but fortunately failed to get high enough to empty into Edderthorpe Flash (over the spillway at least, but the Flash was filling up from the river along the inlet/outlet dike).
Still not much change happening here; Shelduck 6, Teal 130, Wigeon 183, Shoveler 14, Gadwall 24, Pochard 16, Goldeneye 1, Little Egret 1, Oystercatcher 2, Golden Plover 30, Lapwing 200, Common Buzzard 6.
