The Edge 14.03.16

Greensand Dyke- A Little Egret was in the dyke opposite the Old Moor Tavern.
Wombwell Ings - Highlight was the return this Spring of the first Redshanks( 4 in total). Also present were 2 Mute Swan, 62 Canada Geese, 10 Greylag, 5 Shelduck, 69 Wigeon, 18 Mallard, 13 Shoveler, 10 Tufted Duck, 4 Gadwall, 4 Teal, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 8 Coot, 3 Moorhen, 14 Lapwing, 126 BH Gull, 2 Common Gull, 1 Kestrel, 2 Mistle Thrush, 6 Skylark and 2 Reed Bunting.
Bolton Ings - No sign of any early migrants on our walk down Warbler Way. On the open water were 4 Mute Swan, 34 Tufted Duck, 8 Mallard, 10 Wigeon, 3m+3f Goldeneye, 4 Gadwall, 4 Pochard, 11 Little Grebe, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 88 Coot, 242 BH Gull, 2 Common Gull and 2 LBB Gull. Also noted were 11 Canada Geese, 7 Greylag, 1 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Oystercatcher, 2 Kingfisher and 2 Willow Tit.
