Carlton Marsh

A Redshank this morning was new for this year. It left the wader scrape south at 10.40hrs. Also present Buzzard, Little Owl, 15 Redwing and 3 Willow Tit.

I received a call from Arthur Vincent at 13.35hrs to say that a herd of about 50 Whooper Swans had just flown over his home in the Darfield Road area of Cudworth, heading north. They will probably have been the 38 seen earlier over Wombwell Ings.

In a winter when there have been less than usual numbers of Siskins, Dave Smith reports that he has 2 regularly visiting his Carlton garden feeders.
