Today saw a second great crested grebe arrive and the two greylag geese that arrived last Saturday (18th) were still present. The greylags were in first thing last Saturday, (new for the year) and were later joined by 41 others that flew in and hung around for a few hours before leaving the original two in residence. A buzzard was perched up in the woodland to the south-west of the lake.
Black-headed gull (83), buzzard (1), Canada goose (16), coot (26), goldfinch (4), goosander (3 2f/1m), great crested grebe (2), great spotted woodpecker (1), greylag goose (2), kingfisher (1), mallard (156), moorhen (15), mute swan (7), pochard (1), teal (1), tufted duck (11), juvenile whooper swan (1).
