The Edge 02/02/2017

Wombwell Ings - Present were 2 Mute Swan, 66 Canada Geese, 1 Shelduck, c200 Wigeon, c100 Teal, 30 Shoveler, 14 Gadwall, 11 Mallard, 3 Goosander, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 9 Coot, 8 Moorhen, 84 Golden Plover, 2 Lapwing( +40 over), 26 BH Gull, 2 Common Gull, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker. 10 Redwing, 21 Linnet, 7 Reed Bunting and 3 Yellowhammer.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 81 Canada Geese, 84 Wigeon, 40+ Shoveler, 35+ Teal, 15 Tufted Duck, 14 Pochard, 9 Gadwall, 7 Mallard, 2 Goldeneye, 6 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 33 Coot, 1 Moorhen, 2 Lapwing, 71 BH Gull, 4 Common Gull and 1 LBB Gull. Three gloriously coloured Hares were racing around the western side of the reserve.
Bolton Ings - On the open water were 2 Mute Swan, 21 Shoveler, 13 Tufted Duck, 8 Gadwall, 7 Mallard, 7 Goldeneye, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Cormorant, 172 Coot, 1 Moorhen, 33 BH Gull, 17 Common Gull and 5 Herring Gull. Also present were 1 Grey Heron, 1 Kestrel,  flocks of 16 and 80 Lapwing over, 1 Snipe, 1 singing Song Thrush, 2 Willow Tit and 1 Bullfinch.
