First, early morning news from Old Moor which I tried to post at 7.30 but had the usual internet problems: Little Egret, Oystercatcher 8, Ringed Plover 5, Golden Plover 2, Avocet 4, Green Sand 6, Wood Sand 1, Common Sand 5.
Broomhill Flash: Little Egret.
Hooded Crow? I was shown a mobile phone picture this morning of what could be a Hooded Crow taken on Cawthorne Lane, Cawthorne recently. It certainly had a grey mantle, but if or not it was the 'real-deal' was difficult to determine. Nowadays, Hooded Crow is a rare bird in Yorkshire and whilst summer might seem an unlikely time for one to turn up I do remember one at Broomhill once in mid-July (1989?). So, if anybody lives nearby or has a bit of time on their hands it must be worth checking.
