Had a day of work today so spent it at Old Moor, a completely different morning to yesterday weather wise. Cold (6c) and constant drizzle this morning and didn't get any warmer all day, rain got heavier at times but cleared by end of day. Highlights today were c80 Pink feet south west at 11.10, 4 Avocets on Wader Scrape/Field Pools and the adult male Mediterranean Gull with the metal ring. Wigeon moving out and down to 22 but Shoveler a very healthy 63. Counted the Black Headed Gulls on the Mere/Wader Scrape at 2 o'clock and there were 1140 present. Counted them again at 5 o'clock and they had increased to 2650, however 1 was taken by the Peregrine and eaten on one of the islands on the Mere so make that 2649. No sight or sound of any Bitterns on the Reedbeds tonight but did see a Barn Owl and heard a Tawny Owl calling, Bitterns were seen in flight today by others.
