It is sad to report
that John Wint died on Friday 28th
March after losing his fourth battle with cancer.
John was one of
the Wintersett stalwarts in the late 70s and early 80s, where he trained to
become a ringer. He ringed here for
several years before work took him to another part of the country. He returned to East
Yorkshire and continued ringing and training new ringers. He remained active, despite his illness, and
he went on many ringing weeks to Spurn.
He was the President of the
Yorkshire Naturalists Union for a period, and at present held the post of Vice Chairman.
He made a huge contribution
to birding and will be greatly missed by all his friends and aquaintances. I will post details of funeral arrangements as
soon as they are finalised.
