Went onto the Reedbeds at Old Moor this evening after work, wish I hadn't when the first bird I saw was an Oystercatcher killed flying into the overhead power lines. After yesterdays no show and the strong wind I didn't think it would be a good night for Bitterns but I was wrong. 3 birds were present with a male booming despite the weather and another 2 birds seen in flight. Only other bird of note was a Kestrel.
Other sightings at Old Moor today included both Mediterranean Gulls and the first Sand Martins - 6.
Sightings at Adwick included Avocet 4, Curlew 3, Ringed Plover 2, Dunlin 1 and Sand Martin 1.
